Retired to be near the sea which he loved, firstly in Weston Super Mare before finally settling at Lytham in Lancashire, Between times he moved back to Hatfield Woodhouse and was invited back out of retirement to hold the position of Clerk to Hatfield Parish Council for four years in the early 1990s. He spent many happy times on holiday in Cyprus with Margaret and at family events which were many following the arrival of the 8 grandchildren.
